I have just received the very sad news that one of the Original Flockers from the Thunderbird Flocking 2011 - Max Geyer, has passed away.

Sadly, Max was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and then to compound his health issues, he then suffered a stroke, which paralysed one side of his body.

He had been in and out of hospital most of this year, but Sylvia and his family did manage to have him at home for the last 7 weeks.

He passed away on August 2 and Sylvia has asked me to pass on Max's message of how much his 'Thunderbird family' also meant to him, notwithstanding that he hasn't been able to be with us for the past couple of years. He had been ill since last year and had also, not long ago, looked after his own father until he passed away, with them, at home.

Sylvia remembers that he had such fond memories of our first meeting in the pub at Bathurst and the way that 'family' grew over the years.

Brad and Toni are going to try to get down to see Sylvia soon and I was thinking that possibly, later in the year (after the Flocking) maybe a group of us could plan to meet up with Sylvia for lunch? She's in the Newcastle area.

Max was a thorough Gentleman and will be sorely missed.

Farewell my friend!

Cheers

Jimbo (Bishop)

Max was one of Natures true gentlemen.
A person that was very, very easy to talk to and had a devilish sense of humour.
So sad for us and especially Sylvie and his family.
Kathy and I are thinking of them and are in our prayers.
I would love to meet in Newcastle whenever it can be arranged.
See ya mate !

R.I.P. Max.
An original Aussie Flocker whose enthsiasm and sense of humour encouraged us to "Carry on Flocking".
Rae and I send our condolences to Sylvia and her family.
We'll certainly raise a glass to Max at Lakes Entrance.

Very sad to hear Tanya and I have very fond memories of Max from various flockings.
It would be great to catch up to show support.

Ride on old mate.

This is the type of news that we don't want to hear. Good bloke, enjoyed the company of the Flockers and liked to have fun. I remember him from early Flockings and finally figured what DRIBT meant when I looked in my mirror.

Condolences to those he left behind and will certainly have a drink on him at Lakes Entrance.

Sad indeed, Max was a great bloke that I had plenty of time for. We had managed to have a couple of beers together some years ago when he was up this way on business. I had lost contact with him when my phone somehow lost all my contacts and Max hadn't visited the forum for quite a while.

RIP old mate, Ride On.
